Night Watch
by Brockmann, Suzanne

A classic military romance from a genre veteran

When U.S. Navy SEAL Chief Wes Skelly was sent to L.A. on assignment, he agreed to go on a blind date with beautiful single mother Brittany Evans, sister-in-law of a fellow SEAL. After all, he had been secretly in love for years, albeit with a woman who belonged to another man. So, what did he have to lose?

Plenty, it turned out. Because suddenly, the woman he thought he could never have was available. However, so was Brittany - and not only that, she was in danger. Because of him. He knew he could keep her safe. But why was he increasingly certain that he was the one in danger?

Navy SEAL Wes Skelly enjoys a blind date with single mom and ER nurse Brittany Evans, though he has been in love with a colleague's wife for a long time. Brittany is impressed with how he breaks up a fight between her adopted college-age son and another young man. After Wes is asked to help a well-known actress with a stalker situation, he and Brittany grow steadily closer. Brittany is an especially appealing character, given her independence, dynamic relationship with her son, and positive approach to her relationship with Wes. Wes' struggles as he quits smoking, drinking too much, and pining for the wrong woman make him a memorable hero. This vintage Brockmann novel holds up as an excellent romance with a strong and compelling cast deftly dealing with serious, realistic situations. Copyright 2018 Booklist Reviews.
